Mud cleaner is a very important equipment for HDD mud recycling system. Mud cleaner is a combination of desander, desilter and dewatering shale shaker. It is a compact design, small footprint, three in one unit widely accepted by nowadays HDD contractors.

The purpose of the mud cleaner is to remove drilled solids larger than barite. Solids larger than 74-105 micrometres can be removed by the mud cleaner before the viscosity builds up. Mud cleaner can effectively control weighted drilling fluid solid content. Prevent differential pressure sticking, adhesion stuck drill accident, reduce the drill string and the filter cake thickness on bond issues.

Recent days, DC Solid control finished the production of a Model of DCQJ200X2/100X6 Mud cleaners. It is often installed after the shale shakers where the sand trap drilling mud feeds into the desanders and desiters respectively, the underflow of hydrocyclones loads onto the dewatering screens for recycling the usefully drilling fluids back to the mud system. 

The important part of mud cleaner is cyclone which is made of wearing-resistant special polyurethane material, which has good performance in fluid erosion resistance. The feeding port is designed to have a round and smooth transition, beneficial for improved separation efficiency. It is smooth in structure and rational in design. Different quantities of de-sanding cyclones and de-silting cyclones can be supplied according to the customers’ requirements.
